TERRA, Tennessee Emergency Rescue and Recovery Association, Inc., is a volunteer K-9 Search and Rescue team currently available to Middle TN with specialties in air-scenting & trailing area search for missing persons & cadaver recovery in water, wilderness, & urban settings. TERRA offers more than other K9 Search and Rescue groups in the area; our professionally diverse team offers the specialty expertise of a Critical Care Flight Nurse, Fireman, Police Officer, EMT, & Risk Manager, all led by a Professional Dog Trainer. We also study subject knowledge, or the most probable locations of find based on the tendencies of subjects due to their conditions.
TERRA dogs are scent-specific (vs. scent-selective) in that they are trained to find one scent only, discriminating against all other scents in an area (beneficial in finding a single person in a crowd, like the lost hiker over everyone else on the trail or the lost kid in the crowd). TERRA also deploys cadaver dogs, trained to find human specific, individually unique decomposition scent. Utilizing air-scenting, scent-specific, trailing, and cadaver dogs, TERRA offers you the most advanced rescue options available, regardless of elapsed time or weather conditions. TERRA is committed to prevention education and available for seminars. We have safety programs designed for children and adults that stress prevention and preparation, while understanding that accidents do happen, so you should be prepared for SURVIVAL too! Self-defense tactics for urban survival focuses on recognizing/avoiding danger. TERRA also sponsors search and rescue seminars. TERRA offers instruction on other special topics related specifically to common issues in search and rescue training. K9 Search and Rescue is a way for you and your canine partner to help your community bring home loved ones, save lives, and bring closure to families who have lost loved ones.
