I don’t have a dog?
You don’t have to have a dog to join TERRA. We need support members to team up with the dog handlers, work the command post and hide for us. We are building an Administration Team to help with administrative duties. We are also looking for subjects to assist with training.

How much time do volunteers give?

Team members can expect to spend hundreds of hours participating in team activities each year. Expect long weekends, inclement weather, missed dinners, and leaving in the middle of that movie you’ve been waiting to see. TERRA demands strong motivation, good ethics, integrity, professionalism, and teamwork, because we depend on each other for support and “TRUST” is a team motto. In addition to training, SAR operations, and classroom sessions, Members assist in fundraising activities, public awareness, and educational sessions. But we’re a family too! TERRA understands the value of family, that’s why we’re in the business of saving them; therefore, we plan many social events throughout the year for our team members and their families, keeping morale high and getting everyone involved. Look forward to bonfires, hikes, team-building, tailgating, kayaking, & more.

How much do I get paid?

This is a volunteer organization & you do not get paid, but peoples’

lives are at stake and you cannot put a price on that.

How fit do I have to be?

Physical fitness is crucial due to the harsh terrain we encounter. Training and searches involve strenuous hiking with a heavy pack, often times carrying supplies for you, your dog, and the subject. Support roles exist where physical fitness is less of a concern.

What kind of training do I need?

We will train you. Backcountry experience is an asset. You will

receive professional training & learn new skills, while meeting friends

and making a difference.

1. Do I have to have a dog? 2. Will my search dog live with me?

1. No; there’s a place for everyone. We need support to team up with dog handlers, work the command post, and hide from us. We are

also building an Administration Team.

2. TERRA dogs are family members and working partners, therefore they live, work, and play with their handlers and engage in intensive social interaction.

What kind of equipment do I need?

Team members purchase all of their own personal gear:  backpack, boots, outdoor clothing, compass, headlamp, survival gear, & food. GPS/Radios & Uniforms provided through dues and donations.

How much does it cost?

Application fee:  $75. Annual fees: $50.

Personal equipment fees can exceed $1000.
