What or who is your inspiration?
My interest in K9SAR was the result of hiring Nikki Ivey to help us with our young German Shepherd, Greta, who was all but paralyzed by fear and anxiety. During the course of that rehabilitation we adopted a Rottweiler puppy named Jackson and Nikki invited us to test him for her SAR team. My husband asked if we could test Greta as well and Nikki and I agreed, although both reluctantly. That day changed all our lives forever. Jackson performed well for a puppy his age but Greta turned into a dog none of us had ever seen before. The transformation from fear crazed to resolved purpose was astounding. I began SAR training for her sake, but I’ve stayed because I’ve seen first hand the value that a dog’s gift of distinguishing scent can bring to a frantic or grieving family.

What motivates you or makes you happy?
Through my experience with TERRA I’ve learned how to work together with my dog and my team to accomplish something important and make a difference. It has become worthy passion.
